Alan specializes in retained and contingency search for top-tier and senior management professionals in all areas of hospitality management. With more than 40 years experience in hospitality search, he is responsible for identifying, recruiting and negotiating of both key individuals and entire management teams for an international clientele which includes many of the most prestigious and innovative hospitality organizations. Alan is responsible for the placement of Presidents, Chief Operating Officers and Chief Financial Officers.
Alan began a life-long career in hospitality executive search upon joining Roth-Young Personnel Service of New York in 1975. He became General Manager of the headquarters of a nationwide network of 37 offices specializing in all aspects of hospitality recruiting.
Alan founded Marshall-Alan Associates,in 1982, as a boutique executive search service focused exclusively on the needs of the hospitality industry. Having developed long term, ongoing relationships with the foremost operations and management organizations, gives Alan a unique advantage of understanding the corporate cultures, management styles and specialized needs of his clientele.
Born into a family of hospitality professionals, Alan served his apprenticeship in the industry by working in various “hands-on” positions on both the East and West Coasts. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from the Pratt Institute.
